GERALD

Gerald Speranza is one of Melbourne’s top percussionists due to his fiery drumming style and Latin rhythms. He started performing as a percussionist and backup vocalist for the band Tropical Vibes at the age of 14. Gerald made the decision to embark on a new path and start a band, becoming the front-man of Malibu Brown, as his love for music grew greater every day. Malibu Brown has played in various exclusive locations, such as Baraki, Veludo, Alumbra, Number 5, as well as numerous corporate parties and private gatherings.

Gerald, who has a passion for percussion, started studying the Brazilian Samba drums in 2009 under Carlos Ferreira, the founder and instructor of MelSamba Bateria. Speranza Drums got its start when Gerald began to learn the various Samba tones.

Gerald decided to hone his vocal skills in the middle of 2012, so he enrolled in the David Jaanz singing program. In order to present a combination of live percussion accompanied by renowned DJs from Melbourne, Gerald later founded Speranza Drum-Live. Since Speranza's founding, they have played in Melbourne's hottest venues, at Cuban Jazz Festivals, Rhythm in the Vines Festival, Citibeatz Boat Cruises, as well as other corporate events, weddings, and other celebrations.

Having performed alongside some of Australia’s top entertainers, Gerald is one of the most in sought after percussionist in Melbourne’s entertainment circuit.
