WEI YI
Ms Wei Yi is a China- and Australia-based singer, songwriter, vocal educator, and PhD researcher, and a member of both the Chinese Musicians Association and the Australian Vocal Association. She began her professional career at 18 with the Guangdong Song and Dance Theatre and has since performed internationally across Europe, Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region, as well as in major performances and television galas in China. In recent years, she has been actively performing in Sydney, contributing to cultural exchange between the Chinese and local communities.
Wei has released eleven Mandarin albums and collaborated with leading Chinese musicians on original works. Trained in popular music at the Xinghai Conservatory of Music and musical theatre at the New York Film Academy, she is currently completing a PhD at Macquarie University researching the singing voice across English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Alongside releasing music under the label WeiY, she teaches singers aged 5 to 60 in contemporary, musical theatre, and crossover styles, and brings extensive experience in concert organisation and direction in both China and Australia.
